Resiliency Rule 02 - Sometimes you win, and sometimes you learn
39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
I recently watch a great gatorade commercial about defeat and it reminded me about Resiliency Rule 02 - Sometimes you win, and sometimes you learn.
Every athlete, every coach and every parent loses. It’s part of the game. But what separates allowing our sport from becoming an idol that is detrimental in our lives vs playing our sport for God’s glory is how we allow the Lord to use defeat in our lives to help up grow. As christian champions we do not fear defeat because we know that Christ has defeated death. He went to the cross as a sacrifice for our sins. He died and three days later he rose from the grave victorious. His death gave us life. What appeared as an earthly defeat became an eternal victory. Praise be to God!
34 And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, Jesus said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 35 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it. 36 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?
